CHIACCHIERATA CON DAVID JACKSON ALL’INDOMANI DEL SUO ESORDIO AL TT

Fra i piloti che quest’anno hanno fatto il proprio esordio al Tourist Trophy c’è stato David Jackson.

In sella al suo fedele BMW S1000RR e con il team The People’s bike.com ha potuto coronare il suo sogno.

Come vi avevamo raccontato, David ha esordito nelle corse su strada due anni fa, lasciando in fretta la sua firma per i risultati ottenuti. Non dimentichiamo che si tratta di un pilota privato, tanto veloce  molto molto disponibile e simpaticissimo, che ho avuto il piacere di conoscere l’anno scorso. Ecco la nostra chiacchierata.

Ciao David, prima di tutto come stai?

Ciao Lilla, molto bene grazie.

Inizio subito con chiederti cosa pensi del tuo primo TT. Non appena hai avuto modo di correre, lunedì, hai dichiarato di essere stato catturato all’amo e ci è stato chiaro il tuo entusiasmo per essere lì. Cosa ha rappresentato per te esserci?
Ho amato ogni suo singolo minute ed è così diverso essere lì come pilota piuttosto che essere lì come meccanico. La cosa migliore del TT è partire da solo ed avere la strada tutta per te. È stato un grande apprendistato che è cresciuto ad ogni prova, non eravamo un big team, solo io ed i miei amici, abbiamo ipotizzato il set up a volte, ma nonostante ciò abbiamo girato quasi in 123mph. Sono stato il dodicesimo newcomer più veloce della storia quindi sono felice del risultato.

Al sabato, la prima sera, ti sei dovuto fermare dopo poche miglia, ma ti abbiamo visto aiutare altri piloti in difficoltà. Qui ti abbiamo ammirato moltissimo, perché non è qualcosa che si veda tutti i giorni. Ma si capita che per te fosse una cosa normale da fare, esatto?

Haha naturalmente lo è stato. Sono fatto così. Se posso cerco sempre di aiutare gli altri.

Prego! Adesso però dicci com’è stato aspettare per il primo giro ed il via della prima gara (io qui ero molto nervosa)
Si in effetti ero abbastanza nervosa per il mio primo giro da solo, dopo aver seguito Milky. Ma non appena ho finite il giro ero pronto per un altro ancora, il nervoso era sparito. Per la prima gara, la Superbike Race,volevo solo portare a termine i sei giri, ci siamo riusciti ed ho portato a casa anche una Bronze replica, sono molto contento.   

Questa edizione del  TT è stata piena di alti e bassi, ma cosa porterai con te?
Wow sono tante le cosec he ricorderò di questo TT. Ma credo che la più importante sarà il set up sbagliato che abbiamo scelto e farò in modo che non ripeteremo lo stesso errore il prossimo anno, così da ripartire da 122mph. (ma detto tra noi anche la vita notturna)

Pensi già al prossimo anno.

Si, non vedo l’ora arrivi il TT 2019, al momento aspetto moltissimo l’Ulster.

Quale è il tuo consiglio per I prossimi newcomer? Quale pensi sia il miglior modo per allenarsi?
guardate quanti più DVD di on board possibili, percorrere quanti più giri possibile ed assicuratevi chela moto non abbia un set u rigido, ma sia morbida, non come ho fatto io.

Come abbiamo capito Jackson (scusate ma io lo chiamo per cognome, ormai è rassegnato) è pronto e determinato a fare il suo ritorno sull’Isola di Man, grazie all’esperienza di quest’anno. Adesso ci prepariamo a sostenerlo al prossimo Ulster Grand Prix.

INTERVIEW WITH DAVID JACKSON AFTER HIS TT DEBUT

David Jackson is one of the riders that made his TT debut this year.

Riding his beloved BMW S1000RR for The People’s bike team his dream became true.

During the winter I’ve introduced David, he made his roads debut 2 years ago, showing how quick he is. David is a private rider, as fast as very helpful and funny. I had the pleasure to meet David last year, so here our chat.

First of all how are you?

I’m very well thanks.

So now that you had time to think about your first TT, what your thought about it? As soon as you had the chance to ride there on Monday you said you were hooked and we have been able to understand your enthusiasm of being there. What has been for you being there?
I loved every minute of it and it was so different being the rider and not the mechanic. The best part of the TT is setting off alone on the start and having the track to yourself. It was a massive learning curve and we haven’t got a big team just me and some friends so we was guessing with the setup but we did nearly 123mph and was 12th fastest ever newcomer so we are happy with the outcome in the end.

On Saturday, when you had to stop after few miles, we’ve seen you helping other riders. Here a lot of us really admired you because it’s not something we see here, a rider helping another. But you looked like it was just a normal thing to do. Was it?
Haha yeah of course it was just what I am like. I always want to help other people if I can.

You’re welcome! So tell us how was waiting for the first lap and waiting for the first race (because I was really nervous.)
Yeah I was pretty nervous for my first laps in my own after milky had taken me round but as soon as I did the lap on my own I was ready to do another lap with less nerves. My first race was the sbk and all I wanted to do was finish the 6 laps but we did it and got a bronze replica so I was really happy with that.

This TT has been full of highs and lows, but what will you keep in your mind?
Wow there is so many things I will remember about this tt but I guess the most important thing is where we went wrong with set up and I need to make sure we don’t make the same mistake next year so we can start off at 122mph.(But obviously the night life between me and you)

Already thinking about next.

Yes I can’t wait for TT 2019 but looking forward to the Ulster a Lot now.

What’s your advice/advices for the next newcomers? What do you think it’s the best at to train?
Watch as many on-board dvds and do as many laps as you can and make sure the bike is soft not hard like I had it.
