GOODBYE MY FRIEND FRANCK PETRICOLA

The Tourist Trophy on the Isle of Man is the most important road race in the world, it gives you a lot but sometimes you have to pay.. This is the hardest post I’ve ever wrote, I usually write in Italian but this time I need to do it in English at first. I’m sitting on my desk trying to think what to say, but it’s impossible ‘cause tears are burning my eyes. Franck Petricola lost his life at Sulby Croasroad, during the second day of practice week, it was his first time on the Isle Of Man, he came back on his bike after the bad injuries at the North West 200 last year. He’s my hero, I’ve seen his scares, but I’ve seen how his eyes are happy talking about races, how happy he is.

Unfortunately this would not be the first time for me to handle,or trying to, news like that, but it’s time it’s totally different. I’ve spent the last days with Franck, joking about our English, because it’s the language we use to speech each other; talking about what being a rider means. On Saturday Franck was the first rider I’ve ever seen on the TT track (was my first time on the IOM), riding along Glencrutchery Road and he was happy coz it means I’ll always remember about him. We spoke a lot, his way of life is simple, work hard for your dreams, try to have always the best memories, coz when your time is gone, they stay with you and with all you loved. So I’m now..trying to stop my tears remembering all good moments we spent together, he knows me very well, he asked for watching me smile, not crying but in this moment I really can’t. I just want to ask you don’t forget him, ask info about him, about everybody, because this is the only one way we have for making them alive.

Yesterday I didn’t lose a rider, I’ve lost a really good friend. I’m going to listen to: Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen), Zombie (The Cramberries) and Wanderwall (Oasis), remembering us singing it on Tuesday evening. I’m missing you so much.

Il Tourist Trophy su l’Isola di Man è la più importante gara road racing nel mondo, ti dona molto, ma a volte c’è un prezzo da pagare.. solitamente scrivo in italiano, ma questa volta dovevo farlo prima in inglese. Sono seduta alla mia scrivania pensando cosa scrivere, ma è impossibile perché le lacrime fanno bruciare gli occhi. Franck Petricola ha perso la vita a Sulby Croasroad, durante la seconda giornata di prove, it era la sua prima volta sull’Isle Of Man, dopo esser tornado in sella dopo le ferrite riportate alla North West 200 lo scorso anno. franck è il mio eroe, ho visto le sue cicatrici, ma ho visto i suoi occhi felici parlando di road races.

Purtroppo questa non sarebbe la prima volta che faccio i conti, o ci provo, con notizie simili, ma questa volta è totalmente diverso. Ho trascorso gli ultimi giorni con Franck, scherzando sul nostro inglese, lingua che usiamo per parlare, parlando sul significato di esser piloti. Sabato franck è stato il primo pilota che io abbia mai visto sul tracciato del TT (era la mia prima volta sull’IOM), guidare lungo Glencrutchery Road e di ciò era felice, perché così lo ricorderò per sempre. Abbiamo parlato molto, il suo stile di vita è semplice, lavora sodo per realizzare i tuoi sogni, cerca di raccogliere sempre i ricordi migliori, perché quando il tuo tempo è scaduto, sono quelli che restano con te e con chi ami. Ed è così che mi sent io adesso..cercando di fermare le mie lacrime, ricordando tutti i bei momenti passati insieme, Franck mi conosce molto bene, mi ha chiesto di sorridere, di fermare le lacrime, ma in questo momento è per me impossibile fare. Voglio cheidere a tutti voi di non dimenticarlo, chiedete pure info su di lui, chiedete sempre info su tutti, perché è il solo modo che abbiamo per mantenerli in vita.

Ieri non ho perso un pilota, ho perso uno dei miei migliori amici. Vado ad ascoltare: Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen), Zombie (The Cramberries) and Wanderwall (Oasis), ricordando martedì sera quando ci siam messi a cantarle. Mi manchi tantissimo.
